Transitioning to Clean Beauty for Winter

Skincare Tips to Beat the Colder Weather

It’s getting colder, the days are getting shorter, and maybe you’re trying your hand at making warmer recipes like soups or stews. As we’re all gearing up for winter, we may be sleeping more, dressing with more layers, but what are you doing about your skincare? You may be wondering ‘Well, what about my skincare?’ As the weather changes, it’s best that you adjust your skincare routine to accommodate the colder weather, and we have just the thing for you to get started.

Absolutely, you've got it. If you haven't noticed, as the temperature drops, the air becomes less humid, leaving your skin in need of extra care and protection. This shift might require a tweak in your skincare routine, especially if it tends to be on the harsh side. Preserving the moisture in your skin barrier becomes crucial during colder seasons to prevent dry, flaky skin. No need to fret, though! We've put together a guide to help you navigate the transition to colder weather, ensuring your skin remains wonderfully hydrated.

How to Protect Your Skin from the Winter Air

Here are some of our tips that we’ve collected to make sure that your winter is filled with hydrating, happy memories!

  • Switch to a gentle cleanser–If your cleanser is harsh, it may be time to swap it out for a gentler cleanser. Harsher cleansers tend to be more drying to the skin, and without proper moisturizing, it can result in a damaged skin barrier.
  • Use a heavier moisturizer–This may be different depending on the type of skin you have, but in the winter it's better to have a moisturizer that provides moisture, as well as locking in the existing moisture you have. But remember–look for non-comedogenic so you won’t have any breakouts
  • Yes, you can still exfoliate, but not too much–If you’re a fan of exfoliating, you can still keep up your routine in the colder months. However, limiting exfoliating down to once or twice a week is enough to ensure that your skin still glows and holds onto all its moisture.
  • Look for these yummy ingredients–If you don’t know where to start when looking for new products, like a moisturizer for example, look out for ingredients like: ceramides, hyaluronic acid, and niacinamide

The winter months can be daunting for lots of people, especially when it comes to dry skin and staying moisturized. With our tips, we’ll make sure you’ll be hydrated for the winter, and have even learned a few things as well!
